Who's alicia

I started by designing products for US, EU & AU mobile startups — about 10 projects in a year and a half, from junior to mid-level. Then I joined Avito — the world's largest classifieds platform — and spent 4 years designing products for people who are in search for opportunities, hobbies, needs and, finally, home.
The platform used to feel dated. I'm one of the people changing that — through smooth interactions, crafted pin animations, illustrated houses with easter eggs, and interfaces that feel clean rather than corporate.
I don't stay inside the design brief. I find budgets nobody scoped. I write UX copy without a copywriter. I benchmark competitors by reaching out to other companies directly. When any part of the discovery team needs coverage, I step in — because I've done enough research, strategy, and coordination to hold my own in any of those seats.
I believe design needs freedom — freedom to disagree, to propose what nobody asked for, to kill your own ideas when they don't work. I've built that freedom inside a 10,000-person company.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT ME

Working with Alicia was the strongest motivating factor in my own job — and I’d gladly work with her again. I was Alicia’s lead for two years, and during that time she became one of the strongest designers not only on my team, but in our company overall. Alicia’s strongest skill is how quickly she learns and adapts. She could take on something she had very little background in, get deep into it in a very short time, and come back with a strong solution and clearly explain why it was the right one. Alicia also had a habit of coming back with ideas none of us had considered — often without breaking the direction or roadmap we’d already committed to. She was good at finding another way through a problem instead of simply accepting the constraints around it. In her last performance review, I rated her above expectations in almost every area, and it wasn’t a close call. The amount she grew over those two years was genuinely impressive. At some point, Alicia became a role model for other designers in our company. She is the kind of person who raises the bar for the people around her. I’d recommend her without hesitation to any team looking for a strong and thoughtful product designer who learns fast and can take ownership of projects of almost any complexity. Hope we’ll work together again soon.

Alicia worked as a product designer in my Internal Products Automation department at Avito, where she designed the end-to-end automation of our recruitment process — from hiring request to offer. She worked on a simple principle: an interface people use every day should ask as little of them as possible, and it should be built with enough structure that nobody has to tear it down and start over a few years later. That's why she built the foundation the department still works from — the visual design system, the design principles, and the plain-language voice the product uses with employees. The team has kept building on it without her. What makes Alicia stand out among designers is her stakeholder skills: she manages expectations well and confidently defends her design decisions with clear reasoning. I'd gladly work with Alicia again and warmly recommend her.

Alicia worked with me for two years; I was the product manager on her team. The thing I came to rely on: she doesn't run out of ideas. We'd get to the point in a project where it looked like there was nothing left to try, capacity gone and the obvious options already dead, and she'd come back with four more, one of which usually worked. After a while I stopped treating dead ends as dead ends. She takes the manager-side work when it's needed, too. While I was out sick she covered the product role entirely, finalised our quarterly objectives and kept the team pointed in one direction. Her specs are the kind engineers thank you for. One of the best designers I've worked with, without any doubt.

I'm a Product Analyst at Avito, on the same team as Alicia, working on the redesign of our map — one of the product's key drivers of conversion. It was a complex, large-scale initiative, and the biggest question was what exactly to improve. Alicia took it from problem discovery to detailed design: user journeys, global best practices, then navigation, the points-of-interest experience, and the logic for displaying and ranking pins. She consistently balanced user value with business impact. Beyond the interface, she developed new monetization scenarios, challenged the initial concepts, and helped the team pick solutions with strong commercial potential. The map became a more intuitive experience and a new source of revenue. What I value most is her structured thinking and attention to detail: core and edge-case scenarios, error states, animations, platform requirements. She turns an ambiguous challenge into a clear plan with milestones engineers and stakeholders understand. She listens closely to engineering and analytics and keeps everyone aligned as priorities evolve. The team came out of it with a long-term roadmap, a series of experiments, and the redesigned map launched across all platforms.

I worked with Alicia on the Real-Estate Map redesign at Avito, as the Senior Engineer on the project. She took a large, poorly-scoped problem and turned it into an actual project. She treated the map as one product scenario rather than a set of screens — covering mobile, desktop, search, error states, animations, dark theme and the platform constraints most designers never look at. She led discovery and the monetisation design herself, took both through to specification, and stayed with the work until it shipped to A/B across Android, iOS and mobile web. In my judgement her work is confidently senior. The parts involving scope, monetisation and influence beyond her own team read as lead-level.
